🔶 United Nations condemns torture and repression of Baha’is in Iran

A number of UN special rapporteurs and human rights experts, in a joint statement, condemned the crackdown on Baha’is in Iran and urged officials of the Islamic Republic to ensure immediate access for detainees to a lawyer and to medical care.

In a statement published in Geneva on 12 Mordad 1405, these experts expressed serious concern about arbitrary detentions, enforced disappearances, torture, and other cruel treatment against Baha’is.

They said they had received reports indicating that some Baha’is, during detention, have been denied any contact with the outside world and are subjected to torture and enforced disappearance. The UN experts called this process an “overt violation of international law.”
