🔶 Another US attack; Is Iran prepared for war?

🔻 Report by Amir Sultanzadeh

The possibility of a new round of large-scale US attacks on Iran has again been raised. The US Army, at Donald Trump’s request, has prepared plans to target Iran’s energy infrastructure and nuclear sites, with the possible use of one of the country’s most powerful non-nuclear bombs also among the options. However, no final decision has yet been announced regarding carrying out such operations.

In Tehran, officials of the Islamic Republic say that, after their experience of the past war, they have prepared themselves for another attack. The threat to expand the scope of their military response and warnings to regional countries about possible cooperation with the US are part of the government’s effort to increase the cost of the next attack.

At the same time, Saudi Arabia, amid the intensification of attacks by Yemen’s Houthis, has increased its defensive cooperation with foreign allies. These developments, along with visits by Russian and Pakistani officials to Tehran, indicate that regional countries are facing two concerns at once: the possibility of the war expanding and it becoming harder to reach a political agreement.

But the more important question is how much the Islamic Republic has rebuilt its military and security capabilities in recent months. Can Tehran prevent extensive damage in the next war, or is the government’s increased preparedness focused more on preserving the structure of power after possibly limited attacks?
