🔶 Greece’s Ministry of Finance announces implementation of sanctions against Iran

According to a report by Reuters, Greece’s Ministry of Finance said on Thursday, October 22 (October 30) that it is carrying out existing sanctions related to the Islamic Republic and is supporting efforts aimed at effectively combating money laundering and terrorist financing.

The statement by Greece’s Ministry of Finance comes after the U.S. Treasury Department announced that, as part of the “economic expulsion” operation, it has sanctioned five individuals, four companies and institutions, as well as nine ships linked to the Islamic Republic’s “shadow fleet.”

According to the ministry’s statement, one of the companies now added to the sanctions list is the law firm “Karnakis and Karnakis,” which operates in Greece and Panama and, by registering shell companies and concealing the true owners of the ships, has helped facilitate the transfer of hundreds of millions of dollars in Iranian oil, petrochemical products, and steel.
