🔶 European Parliament calls on the EU to designate the Houthis as a terrorist group

Members of the European Parliament strongly condemned the unprecedented missile and drone attacks by the Houthis against Saudi Arabia and their military offensive in Yemen.

In a resolution adopted on Thursday, October 22 (30 Mehr), the European Parliament representatives described these attacks as a clear violation of international law and international humanitarian law, emphasizing that large numbers of Yemeni civilians have been killed and displaced and that the humanitarian crisis in the country has worsened.

The European Parliament also, while condemning the Houthis’ missile and drone attacks on Israel and the United Arab Emirates in recent years, reaffirmed its commitment to the security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia and Yemen, and asked the Houthis to "immediately stop all hostile actions, whether inside or outside Yemen, and give up any territorial ambitions".

In another section of the statement, the European Parliament also said that it "strongly condemns the destabilizing role of the Iranian regime".
