🔶 Tehran Teachers’ Trade Association: Nearly Half of Iran’s Population Will Fall Below the Poverty Line in Two Years

The Iran Teachers’ Trade Association in Tehran, in a statement, warned about the spread of poverty, the decline in teachers’ purchasing power, and the failure to implement laws related to the rights and benefits of employees and retirees.

Citing a report from the Majles (Parliament) Research Center, the professional organization said that if the current trend continues, the poverty rate in Iran will rise from 41 percent to 45.5 percent in the year 1407.

Based on this estimate, nearly half of the country’s population will be pushed below the poverty line within the next two years.

In its statement, the Tehran Teachers’ Trade Association pointed to the failure to implement Articles 64 and 125 of the Civil Service Management Law and accused the governments of ignoring the approved laws.

The association said that the continuation of discrimination in the payment system, the steady reduction in purchasing power, and the shrinking of teachers’ household budgets are the result of years of neglect of legal requirements.
