🔶 Mohsen Rezaei: We wanted to attack three points in Ukraine, but we refrained
Mohsen Rezaei, the former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said in a special news interview on Monday evening, August 3 (22 Mordad), that the Islamic Republic intended to attack “three points” in this country as retaliation for Ukraine’s attack on an Iranian ship in the Caspian Sea, but after Ukraine “apologized,” it decided to abandon that plan.
Rezaei said: «We were prepared to attack 3 areas of Ukraine. After they said we attacked by mistake, we halted the response to review their claim. In any case, they must pay for their attack.»
Earlier, Ukraine’s foreign minister had said that Ukraine’s aim in attacking the ship was “self-defense against Russian aggression,” and that the country was not seeking to escalate tensions with Iran. Abbas Araghchi, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, also said that in a phone call with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andriy Sybiha, he had been assured that the attack was “unintentional.”
