🔶 Italy’s foreign minister stresses the need to continue talks over the Strait of Hormuz

Antonio Tajani, Italy’s foreign minister, reported on his phone call with Abbas Araqchi, his Iranian counterpart, and stressed the need to continue negotiations over the Strait of Hormuz.

In a message that he published on the social media platform X on Wednesday, 5 August (14 Mordad), he said that through Araqchi he had been informed about Iran’s and Oman’s negotiations to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to the commercial passage of ships.

Tajani wrote: “I emphasized the importance of continuing the talks to quickly reach a political solution to this crisis, including with the United States, and to prevent further escalation of the fighting.”

He called ensuring full freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, without collecting fees or creating restrictions, in favor of “regional stability and the global economy.”
