🔶 House of Cinema asks Pezeshkian to stop summoning and pressure on artists

The board of directors of the House of Cinema, in a letter addressed to Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, criticized the conduct of some security and judicial institutions toward filmmakers and people in the cultural sphere, and called for the issuance of an order to stop these practices.

In a section of the letter that was published by the public relations office of the House of Cinema, it is stated that in the days when “the shadow of war and threats from hostile foreign powers” is weighing on the country, and senior officials emphasize “national unity,” the behavior of some institutions toward people of culture and art is “exactly in the opposite direction” of that goal.

House of Cinema, in this letter, asked: “How can we expect that all segments of the nation will stand together in a single line against enemies, when within the country, some behaviors are pounding the drum of dissension?”

The board of directors of the House of Cinema emphasized that preserving Iran in the current circumstances requires solidarity and listening to the voices of real concerned citizens.

This professional body, from Pezeshkian, in his capacity as guardian of the Constitution, has asked him to issue an order to stop the summons and the criticized practices, and to form a follow-up and accountable committee to address the issue.
