🔸The European Criminal Bar Association on Saturday, 11 Mehr, awarded the 2026 Scott Crosby Human Rights Prize to Nasrin Sotoudeh, an Iranian lawyer and human rights activist, during its autumn conference in Tirana, the Albanian capital. Nima Khandan, Ms. Sotoudeh’s son, received the prize on behalf of his mother.

🔸The association said it has granted this year’s award to Nasrin Sotoudeh, given her more than two decades of legal work in the fields of fundamental rights, women’s rights, the independence of lawyers, and the right to fair trial.

🔸In recent years, Nasrin Sotoudeh has been arrested and imprisoned on multiple occasions in connection with her human rights activities and her legal work for political prisoners, detainees, and opponents of mandatory hijab.

🔸The European Criminal Bar Association (ECBA) is an independent and professional institution that has been operating since 1997 and brings together criminal lawyers from different European countries with a focus on defendants’ rights, fair trial, the independence of lawyers, and the rule of law.

🔸Nasrin Sotoudeh also became, just a few days ago, the first Iranian to win the “Václav Havel” human rights prize.
