🔶 Baghai: Iran-Oman agreement is in the stage of review and final drafting
Ismail Baghai, the spokesperson of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, says that the joint statement by Iran and Oman, aimed at setting out a safe passage route for commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, is in the final stage.
Baghai said on Wednesday, 14 Mordad: “The geographical coordinates of the route in question have been agreed upon, and if some third parties do not create obstacles in this regard, the joint statement of the two countries, including the considerations and main points agreed upon, is also in the stage of review and final drafting.”
He assessed the negotiation process between the two countries as “professional” and “moving forward,” emphasizing: “An Iran-Oman understanding by itself cannot mean that the strait becomes safe for transit ships, because the factors that make the Strait of Hormuz insecure are still present—emanating from the United States, particularly the maritime blockade and other aggressive and threatening actions against Iran and its interests.”
