🔸 U.S. Ambassador to the UN: The issue with Iran is getting the money
According to Mike Waltz, the United States’ ambassador to the United Nations, the Islamic Republic is more afraid of economic sanctions than of military attacks.
On the evening of Sunday, August 9 (18 Mordad), in an interview with Fox News, he said: “When they (Iranian negotiators) sit down at the table with our negotiating delegation, their issue is only this—money, money, and again money. Because they can live with the issue of the bombings.”
Waltz added: “I say this somewhat jokingly, but also somewhat seriously. The Iranians are currently more afraid of Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, than of Pete Hegseth, the Defense Secretary.”
The U.S. representative to the UN stated: “For them [the Iranian government], neither the army matters, nor their soldiers, nor the people of Iran—when we see that they have killed 40,000 people from among the citizens of this country.”
