🔶 Heva human rights organization asked Germany’s federal prosecutor to investigate crimes against humanity in Iran
Heva human rights organization has submitted a complaint to the Federal Attorney General of Germany so that, on the basis of it, "persecution and harassment of Kurds and Baluchis in Iran, based on ethnicity, as a separate axis" be examined in investigations into possible crimes against humanity.
The complaint also calls for the preservation of evidence and the investigation of criminal responsibility of those involved in the crackdown, including perpetrators, commanders, and decision-makers.
According to the lawyer responsible for pursuing the complaint, this is the first request in Germany that specifically calls for the investigation of the ethnic persecution and harassment of Kurds and Baluchis in Iran as a separate axis in the investigations.
The complaint is related to the crackdown on the uprising of "Women, Life, Freedom" in 2022 and 2023, the killing of protesters in January 2026, and the wave of crackdowns that followed.
The aforementioned complaint also cites reports by human rights organizations and international research institutions on unlawful killings, torture, sexual violence, enforced disappearance, arbitrary detention, and preventing the provision of medical care to injured protesters.
