🔶 Two more ships in the Black Sea were targeted by a drone attack
Roman Radev, Prime Minister of Bulgaria, announced on Tuesday, October 13 (Mehr 21), that two ships in the Black Sea and near the Bulgarian coast were targeted by drone attacks, after which one of the ships sank and emergency operations to rescue the crew were launched.
In a video he posted on social media, Radev said that rescue workers evacuated all 15 crew members of the coastal cargo ship “Chelsea 3,” which was under Ukrainian operation and sailed under the flag of Malta. Five crew members were taken for treatment due to minor injuries.
According to Radev, the crew of this ship—which included seven Ukrainian citizens and eight citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan—reported that the deck and hull of the ship were damaged due to hits from three airborne drones.
According to Mario Smorokov, the governor of the Varna region, another cargo ship named “Dignity,” which was sailing under the flag of Guinea-Bissau, also sank after being targeted in a military attack. Five sailors from the ship were saved, but the search for the other 11 crew members continued.
The two ships were targeted 20 and 21 miles away—equivalent to 32 and 34 kilometers—from the Bulgarian coast.
On Tuesday, Radev, at an emergency meeting of Bulgaria’s Security Council, called these attacks “completely unacceptable” and said Bulgaria has requested help from NATO and the European Union.
