Youssef Raji, Lebanon’s foreign minister, announced on the X social network that in a meeting with the ambassadors of Arab countries in Moscow, he emphasized Lebanon’s opposition to any interference by the Islamic Republic in this country’s internal affairs and his hope for Russia to play a positive and balanced role.
He also condemned the repeated attacks by the Islamic Republic on Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Gulf countries, and said that Hezbollah, by bringing Lebanon into a “futile war” that the people of this country have not chosen, has imposed and continues to impose heavy costs on them.
Raji emphasized that the priorities of the Lebanese government include “liberating occupied territories, stopping Israel’s attacks, regaining exclusive authority over decisions regarding war and peace, and limiting weapons to the hands of the state.”
He added that after the failure of the military option, the Lebanese government chose the path of direct negotiations and is determined, with support from the United States and backing from Arab countries, to reach an outcome that serves only Lebanon’s interests, not those of other countries, especially Iran.
