🔶 Merz, in talks with bin Salman, condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia

Friedrich Merz, the German chancellor, discussed, among other things, the attacks by Yemen’s Houthi militias on the Riyadh International Airport in a phone conversation with Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.

Stefan Kornelius, the spokesperson of the German government, said on Tuesday, October 13 (21 Mehr) in Berlin that the German chancellor strongly condemned the “terrorist attacks by Iran-backed Houthis.” According to him, Merz and the Saudi crown prince agreed in the conversation that these attacks must be “stopped immediately.”

In recent days, the Houthis have intensified their attacks on Riyadh and, in particular, targeted the international airport of Saudi Arabia’s capital. In these attacks, 18 people were killed. Only in the attack on Saturday, 13 people died and more than 300 others were injured.

Merz and bin Salman, who are effectively seen as ruling Saudi Arabia, also called for the maritime blockade imposed by Iran and the Houthis in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandab Strait to end “immediately” and without any limitation.
