🔶 Trump rejects use of nuclear weapons in a war with Iran
Donald Trump, the U.S. president, in a conversation with reporters in the Oval Office of the White House, rejected the possibility of using nuclear weapons against Iran in response to a question.
He said: “They are completely defeated militarily. I defeated them, and now I should use nuclear weapons against them as well? What a stupid question!”
Trump had earlier, in the month of April, also said that the use of nuclear weapons against Iran was off the table, and had stated, “What do I need that for at all?”
Another reporter, referring to the recent U.S. attack on Iran, asked Trump whether these developments are to be considered part of a limited operation or a return to all-out war. Trump avoided giving a direct and clear answer to this question. He called Iran a “defeated” country and said: “They have 350 percent inflation, they have no currency, they don’t pay their soldiers’ salaries. Their leaders have mostly been killed. Their navy has been wiped out. Their air forces have been destroyed. Almost all of their surveillance equipment has been destroyed.”
