🔻The Strait of Hormuz is the focus of talks between the foreign ministers of the United States and the United Kingdom in Washington

On Wednesday, Marko Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, met in Washington with David Miliband, the U.K. Secretary of State. The two foreign ministers are believed to take part in a joint press conference.

This is the first official meeting between the two foreign ministers since the new British government took office.

The Strait of Hormuz and the war in Ukraine are the main topics of discussion between the two foreign ministers.

Before traveling to Washington, the U.K. foreign minister said that reopening the Strait of Hormuz “is essential to reduce the pressure of the cost of living on British families.”

Earlier, Mr. Rubio, as well as the U.S. Treasury Secretary, had expressed hope regarding an Iran-Oman agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
