🔻The Israeli army announced that, in reaction to an “overt violation of the ceasefire” by Hezbollah, it has begun attacks on targets in southern Lebanon while negotiations between Israel and the Lebanese government are underway in Rome.

The army said in a statement: “In response to the blatant violation of the ceasefire by the terrorist organization Hezbollah, Israeli army forces have begun precise strikes in southern Lebanon.”

The statement was issued shortly after the Israeli army asked residents of one of the villages in the area to leave.

Hezbollah, an ally of Iran, criticizes the Lebanese government for negotiating with Israel and says it is contrary to Lebanon’s constitution.

Naim Qassem, the leader of Hezbollah in Lebanon, had said in harsh remarks that it would not accept a ceasefire agreement that was brokered between Lebanon and Israel by the United States.
