The head of Israel’s internal security agency has warned senior officials in this country that the Islamic Republic and several other countries are trying to interfere in Israel’s upcoming elections. Israel’s Channel 13 reported that David Zini told officials that external elements are seeking to disrupt the election process.
Based on this report, Zini has put this issue at the top of Shin Bet’s agenda and described it as the organization’s second biggest concern after threats of major terrorist attacks.
Israel’s national elections will be held on 5 Aban.
This is not the first warning. Israel’s president, Isaac Herzog, on 18 Tir, after a meeting with Zini and the head of the Central Elections Committee, said that “elements from within and especially from outside” are seeking to influence and undermine the integrity of the elections.
