Human rights organization Heva, by submitting a request to the Federal Prosecutor General of Germany, called for the initiation of structural investigations into possible crimes against humanity in Iran and the review of the suppression of Kurds and Baluchis motivated by ethnic and ethnic-identity discrimination.

The request covers the crackdown on the protests of “Woman, Life, Freedom” in the years 1401 and 1402, the killing of protesters in Dey 1404, and subsequent crackdowns. According to the lawyer for the case, this is the first request in Germany that raises the investigation of the harassment and persecution of Kurds and Baluchis as an independent core in the investigations.

Heva called for the investigation of the role of security forces, commanders, and decision-making officials in killings, torture, sexual violence, enforced disappearances, and arbitrary detentions, as well as the collection and preservation of evidence and the examination of the chain of command.

Heva, referring to the possibility of Germany’s handling of some international crimes committed outside the country, called for the initiation of individual criminal investigations if there is sufficient evidence. This request does not mean the formal start of investigations by the German prosecutor’s office.
