🔶 The 2026 Sakharov Prize was awarded to the International Criminal Court

For more than 20 years, the International Criminal Court in The Hague has been holding accountable those responsible for war crimes, genocide, and other human crimes in countries where there is no way to achieve justice. For this reason, the European Parliament will award the Sakharov Prize in 2026 to this international institution.

The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, said on Thursday, October 22, in Strasbourg: “The European Union is built on respect for multilateralism and international institutions, and with this prize we recognize the important work of the Court in The Hague in safeguarding international law and justice.”
