Salman Eshaqi, the spokesperson for the Health and Treatment Commission of the Parliament, criticized the situation of medicine supply and rising treatment costs, saying: “Unfortunately, we have shut our eyes to the killing of our people due to the lack of medicine and the skyrocketing costs of treatment.”
Eshaqi said that more than 80% of treatment expenses are paid out of patients’ own pockets, and added that there is the possibility of importing medicines and their raw materials from Russia and China, noting that the problems in supplying medicines cannot be attributed solely to war and sanctions.
He also criticized what he called corruption in the health sector and said: “We have reached a point where we hope that people do not get sick, because if they do get sick, the end of this illness is not treatment; it is death.”
