Mansour Pourian, head of the Livestock Supply Council, called reports about the sale of donkey and horse meat “psychological agitation” and said that there is no official document or evidence regarding the supply of this type of meat.
At the same time, he said: “In some cases, some people may have taken such action, which has undoubtedly been dealt with severely.”
Pourian emphasized that domestically produced meats are from sheep, goats, cattle, calves, water buffalo, and camels, and said that apart from the meat of these animals, no other meat has been available in the market.
He did not provide further details about the cases that, according to him, may have occurred and that he said had been met with a “severe” response against their perpetrators, nor did he specify what animals he meant regarding the sale of meat.
