Mount Etna, after more than three weeks of apparent calm, has once again sent a massive column of ash into the sky. This well-known volcano, located near Catania on the Italian island of Sicily, is one of the most famous and active volcanoes in the world. After Etna’s renewed activity, the presence of volcanic ash led to temporary restrictions in the airspace around it, but the operations of Catania’s international airport have continued without interruption and as usual.
