🔶 U.S. State Department: The order to evacuate unnecessary American staff applies only to Saudi Arabia
An hour after reports were published saying that “the United States is preparing to issue an order to withdraw its embassy staff from the Middle East,” a spokesperson for the country’s State Department denied those reports and stated that the warning issued applies only to American staff stationed in Saudi Arabia.
Earlier, Reuters reported on Wednesday, October 21 (29 Mehr), citing three U.S. officials, that the U.S. State Department was preparing to issue an order to evacuate a number of staff members and their family members from U.S. embassies in the Gulf region countries.
Tommy Piggott, the spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, in response to the Reuters report about the issuance of an order to evacuate staff from U.S. embassies in Gulf countries, wrote in a post on the X network: “This report was incorrect, and the evacuation order has been issued only for non-essential U.S. government employees and their family members in Saudi Arabia.”
