🔶 Pete Hegseth, defending Iran’s war, called it a “brave and historic” move
Pete Hegseth, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, after the Republicans’ defeat in the midterm elections and amid increased speculation about his dismissal, once again defended the war against Iran.
On Thursday, 14 Aban, in a video message, Hegseth called military operations against Iran “brave and historic” and said he would not back down in the face of attacks and efforts to remove him. He said: “These efforts against President Trump didn’t work and they won’t work against me either. You can be confident about that.”
Donald Trump, the U.S. president, has so far supported his defense secretary, Pete Hegseth. However, according to reports, the possibility of his being replaced has been raised at the White House.
JD Vance, the U.S. vice president, after the heavy defeat of Republicans in the country’s midterm elections, said the war against Iran was the main factor behind this party’s defeat. Donald Trump then confirmed in talks with the media that the war against Iran—and specifically the rise in fuel prices—played a role in this defeat. He emphasized, however, that he is not sorry about this move.
The Democrats, who won control of Congress in the recent election, plan to begin extensive investigations into the performance of the defense secretary starting next year.
