🔶 Jordan announces it has thwarted the efforts of 14 armed individuals to infiltrate from Syria

The Jordanian army said on Saturday, 9 Aban (October 31), that the country’s border security forces prevented the entry into northern Jordan of a group consisting of 14 armed individuals from Syrian territory.

According to Reuters, in a statement the Jordanian army said the group on Friday attempted to cross the border with heavy gunfire and direct clashes, but border forces confronted them.

During the clashes, many members of the armed group were killed or wounded, and the remaining individuals fled back to Syrian territory.

The United States and NATO have military bases in Jordan. Under a 2021 defense agreement, U.S. forces have access to 12 Jordanian military facilities.

NATO also opened its liaison office in this country in 2025. Before the Iranian war, Jordan’s “Muwaffaq al-Salti” airbase hosted C-17 transport aircraft and around 60 U.S. fighter aircraft.

With the start of fighting in the region, Jordan has been targeted by drone and missile attacks by the Islamic Republic and armed groups.
