The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday, 9 Aban, that, based on Pentagon estimates, missile and drone attacks by the Islamic Republic on U.S. military bases in the Middle East have caused at least $5 billion in damage, and the figure may rise to $15 billion.
By reviewing satellite images, statements by U.S. officials, and reports related to Iran’s attacks, the newspaper identified damage to 274 structures at 24 military installations in the region. As the Wall Street Journal wrote, the cost of rebuilding the facilities that were damaged alone may exceed $4 billion.
According to this report, U.S. bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, among other facilities, suffered extensive damage in the early stages of the conflict. It also said that Iran’s July 17 attack on the successful Al-Suwayti Air Base in Jordan killed three U.S. servicemembers and caused damage to at least 19 buildings.
The Wall Street Journal wrote that the Pentagon has released limited information about the extent of damage to the bases. The newspaper emphasized that reviewing satellite images may not show all damage, and some of the identified structures are located at installations jointly used with the host countries.
