Tehran Police Information Center announced that police officers, while chasing thieves, opened fire, after which a female driver was hit by a bullet and died.

According to this statement, the incident occurred at 7:50 p.m. on Thursday, the seventh of Aban, and, as this institution said, the police officers’ bullet hit “accidentally” a driver of a passing vehicle.

The woman was transferred to a hospital, where she underwent surgery and was admitted to the intensive care unit, but she died on Saturday morning due to her injuries.

Tehran Police said a judicial case has been opened for this incident and that investigations are underway about it
