Israel’s Internal Security Service and the country’s National Cyber Directorate announced the identification of a new wave of targeted phishing attempts by agents of the Islamic Republic against journalists and media personnel in Israel.

Based on the statements by these two entities, the attempts were discovered at an early stage, and their objective was to obtain sensitive information about recent political and security developments.

According to the reports of these entities, Islamic Republic intelligence agents contact journalists via messaging apps, especially WhatsApp and Telegram, sometimes posing as well-known individuals, and tailor the messages to the intended objective.
