Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, said that within less than two months, Washington has dealt a blow to the main parts of the Islamic Republic’s oil export network and has severely limited the revenue sources that fund the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Bessent wrote on the X network on Friday, 1 Aban, that the Treasury Department has started the “economic expulsion” operation to intensify pressure and block all revenue sources of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Islamic Republic. He said that as a result of this operation, the fleet of the Islamic Republic’s shadow oil tankers has been significantly weakened, the main oil export terminal has been left empty, and the oil reserves on its vessels have run out. The U.S. Treasury Secretary also said that the Islamic Republic spends the country’s resources on violence and terrorism outside its borders rather than on the people’s welfare, and that the people of Iran are facing a deeper economic crisis. He added: “America is no longer managing the threat posed by the Islamic Republic; we are in the process of bringing it to an end.”
