🔶 Israel election; Golan calls for forming an alliance with Arab parties
With results recorded from more than 84 percent of the ballot boxes in Israel’s election, initial calculations show that parties supporting Benjamin Netanyahu will win 54 seats, the opposition bloc led by Gadi Eisenkot will win 49 seats, and largely Arab parties will win 17 seats. These figures are not final, and a majority in the parliament requires 61 seats.
At the same time, Yair Golan, leader of the Democrats party, called for forming an alliance with Arab parties and said: «We should not accept any more of Netanyahu’s racist distinction between the votes of Jews and Arabs.»
Stating that Netanyahu has failed, he said: «Here we have no future unless we stop being afraid and put an end to racism.» However, the final result of the election and the composition of the future government remain unclear.
