🔶 Maria Machado, leader of the opposition, returns to Venezuela

María Corina Machado, leader of Venezuela’s opposition and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, announced her return about 10 months after she left the country secretly.

She wrote on the social media platform X: “I’m here, with you.”

Edmundo González, an opposition politician to the government, also said Machado is on Venezuelan soil and called this return a “very important day.”

The development comes a few weeks after the controversial U.S. oil agreement in Venezuela. Since Nicolás Maduro was detained by U.S. forces in January, Delcy Rodríguez, his former deputy, has been running the country. Donald Trump has repeatedly praised her cooperation.
