🔻Germany warns of greater instability in global fuel markets
The German government warned of greater instability in the global fuel market. The warning came after the United States asked European countries to put some of their diesel reserves onto the market in order to reduce pressure caused by rising energy prices.
A spokesperson for the German government stressed the need for “coordinated and reciprocal solutions,” and said: “We want to stabilize markets, not create more instability.”
He also said, regarding the release of additional fuel reserves, that his country “is not aware of a new request from the International Energy Agency.”
The United States has threatened to limit diesel exports amid rising costs due to the war in Iran. Donald Trump, the U.S. president, also said that it may consider a ban on U.S. diesel exports.
