🔻US Secretary of State says Donald Trump has not yet decided on fresh attacks on Iran.

Marco Rubio, speaking at a news conference after the end of a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Group of 20 in Atlanta, the United States, said that Washington is still considering the option of diplomacy:

“[W]e can, if we want, reach military objectives. He (Trump) has not decided yet. I don’t have anything to share with you today on this matter. We don’t take such an issue lightly or simply.”

Rubio also said that he does not know whether there is a specific timeline for negotiations mediated by Qatar.

Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, today confirmed that an Iranian delegation is currently in Doha to continue talks with Qatar’s mediators, but he emphasized that Iranian officials do not intend to meet with the American side.

After reports were published about the Iranian delegation’s trip to Doha, the Qatari newspaper Al-Arabi Al-Jadid, citing sources close to the mediators, reported progress in negotiations between Tehran and Washington and said that an American delegation would also arrive in Doha to hold “direct negotiations” with Iran.
