🔶 Turkey: A renewed attack on Iran will expand the war in the region
Hakan Fidan, Turkey’s foreign minister, on Friday, October 23, after meeting with the foreign ministers of seven countries in Istanbul, warned about the consequences of a renewed military attack on Iran and stressed that “such an action not only helps resolve the crisis, but will expand the scope of the war in the Middle East”.
According to The Jerusalem Post, the foreign ministers of Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Italy discussed developments in the Iran war and its regional repercussions in a joint meeting in Istanbul.
This was the first joint meeting of the so-called “Four Nations” group of regional countries—comprising Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia—with the three European countries Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, as well as Italy.
At a press conference after the meeting, Fidan said that the participants agreed on the risk of the war spreading if Iran is attacked again.
He said: “We all agree that a fresh attack on Iran will expand the war in the region.”
Turkey’s foreign minister added: “Military intervention against Iran is by no means a solution. No one is in favor of it at the moment.”
