🔶France’s Interior Minister calls deadly shooting in Paris suburbs an “act of terrorism”

After a deadly shooting in the Paris region, Laurent Nuñez, France’s Minister of the Interior, described the incident as an “act of terrorism.” Speaking to reporters in the city of Trappes, he said: “Investigations are still ongoing, but we are clearly dealing with a terrorist crime.”

On the morning of Thursday, October 23 (1 Aban), a man opened fire from inside a car in several housing estates near Paris. In the incident, one person was killed and four others were injured, with the condition of some of them very serious. A 12-year-old child is also among the injured. The suspect was arrested shortly after the shooting.

The interior minister said the motives behind the act still need to be determined with certainty. Citing statements from the prosecutor in charge of the case, he added that it is possible that racist motives were involved. Initially, no further information was released about the alleged motive of the attacker.
