🔶 Trump may propose easing sanctions on Iran

Donald Trump, the U.S. president, may raise the idea of limited sanctions relief and the release of part of Tehran’s frozen assets in exchange for Iran’s flexibility on nuclear issues.

According to a report by Israel’s Channel 12, Trump is examining a package that could include limited reductions in sanctions against the Islamic Republic and the release of part of Iran’s blocked financial resources.

As the report says, this possible proposal would be raised only if Iran shows that it is moving toward a “serious” agreement and can be “flexible” on nuclear matters.

The purpose of these talks is said to be reaching an agreement on a revised version of the seven-day plan that Iran had presented on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s initial proposal met with opposition from Trump, but reports indicate that contacts and diplomatic efforts to find a new formula have continued.

According to Axios, the talks so far have been described as “positive and constructive,” but the main disagreement is still over which side should take the first step.
