🔶 Three suspects detained over alleged plot to attack in western Germany
Police in Germany have, after receiving information from an intelligence agency, detained three men in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia on suspicion of preparing an act that threatens the security of the country. Until the publication of this report, security officials had not released details about the nature and possible purpose of this action.
The arrest operation was carried out on the evening of Thursday, October 1 (Mehr 9), in two cities, Unna and Hagen, with the participation of police special forces.
The police in Dortmund said that the information received raised suspicion that the three men were preparing a “crime that threatens national security.” Accordingly, it is believed that they may have been planning an attack.
Under German law, in such cases security authorities can take action even before a possible attack is carried out, during the planning stage.
