The Telegraph: The United States and Israel are considering a possible land blockade of Iran. Donald Trump, the U.S. president, and Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, are examining options to increase economic pressure after failed attacks and a naval blockade.

The plan would require Iran’s neighbors—Iraq, Pakistan, Turkey and Afghanistan—to tighten their borders or close them and restrict trade. An Israeli official suggested: “What if we just blocked the land routes? Suppose Iran couldn’t bring in anything and couldn’t export anything.”

Shea McFarland, a retired U.S. Army general, described a land blockade as “almost impossible,” but economically paralyzing. The United States and Israel may use this plan as a diversionary tactic to draw Tehran’s attention away from its actual next actions.
