Ruhollah Rahimpour, a political analyst, said to Iran International that the Islamic Republic has no desire to reduce tensions in this waterway and is trying to obtain more concessions in any possible negotiations by maintaining pressure on the ground. According to him, control of the Strait of Hormuz is part of Tehran’s strategy to strengthen its position against the United States and mediators.
