🔻The results of Israel’s parliamentary election show that none of the main alliances have succeeded in winning a majority of Knesset seats, and the country is now on the verge of weeks of political uncertainty and difficult negotiations to form a new government.

Based on the results announced, the coalition of Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, has won 53 of the 120 seats in parliament. The opposition coalition led by Gadi Eisenkot, a centrist politician, has won 48 seats, and Arab-majority parties, with 19 seats, have reached a historic record.

To form a government, support from at least 61 representatives is necessary. Both Netanyahu and Eisenkot have said they will work to form the next government, but neither currently has a clear path to achieving a majority.

Although the votes of Arab-majority parties could play an important role in determining the future government, some politicians from the main coalitions have rejected cooperating with these parties to form a government.
