🔶 عراقچی: The Islamabad understanding ended the war, not a 60-day ceasefire

Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, said that no decision has yet been made to resume negotiations with the United States. He added that Qatar and Pakistan, as mediators, are in contact with Iran and messages are being exchanged, but these contacts do not mean that negotiations are being carried out.

Araghchi also claimed that what was stated in the Islamabad understanding is “the end of the war.” According to Araghchi, however, the United States violated the understanding note and fighting has begun again.

He pointed out that there was no agreement titled a 60-day ceasefire that would now be under discussion for extension; rather, the war had ended and a new situation has now arisen.

Regarding the issue of a 60-day ceasefire, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic said that the timeframe mentioned was a 60-day opportunity for negotiations and reaching a final agreement; therefore, “there was no agreement under the title of a 60-day ceasefire.”

Araghchi also said that the previous routes for contacting the United States are no longer effective, and the Islamic Republic is currently proposing “a temporary path,” which will later become the final path.
