Kaya Kallas, the EU’s foreign policy chief, accused Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, of bringing up “many lies” during negotiations about the war in Ukraine and of showing no signs during these negotiations that Moscow was prepared for a peace talk.
At the same time, the foreign ministers of European countries refused to take a joint photo with Lavrov; a decision that, according to Johann Wadenfool, Germany’s foreign minister, served as a reminder that “there is no normal relationship with Russia.”
