🔻Spokesperson for the Parliament’s Health and Treatment Commission: The end of illness in Iran is not treatment; it is death

The spokesperson for the Parliament’s Health and Treatment Commission, pointing to shortages and rising prices of medicines, said that in Iran “the end of illness is not treatment; it is death.”

Salman Eshaqi, to the Iran Labor News Agency (ILNA), said: “I can seriously tell you that the supply of medicines and pharmaceutical raw materials has nothing to do with the war.”

He referred to the import of luxury items such as iPhone 18 and Tesla vehicles and asked: “Are we only in the field of medicine, surrounded and under sanctions?”

He also pointed to “100 percent profit” of some pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies during wartime.

Mr. Eshaqi also said that despite the possibility of importing medicines from Russia and China, these countries are not used.

The head of Iran’s Food and Drug Organization had said last month that the high cost of medicines is due to a reduction in the share of preferential foreign exchange for importing medical items.

Meanwhile, the U.S. maritime blockade has made the import of goods, including medicines, difficult and slow.
