🔻While Donald Trump said in an election rally in Alabama on Friday night that the war would likely end immediately after the election, Axios reported that several of the highest-ranking national security officials in the government met that same day in an unannounced, multi-hour meeting at Camp David to discuss the United States’ next steps in the war with Iran.
According to the report, the meeting was chaired by JD Vance, the U.S. vice president, and was attended by Marco Rubio, the Secretary of State, Pete Hegseth, the Secretary of Defense, Steve Witkoff, the White House envoy, John Ratcliffe, the CIA Director, and General Dan Caine, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. Army.
One U.S. official told Axios that in that meeting, major issues related to the Middle East were “decided” or “at least reviewed separately.” The White House did not comment on the matter.
