Prince Reza Pahlavi, in a message to the birthday ceremony of Nika Shakarami in Frankfurt, called her one of the symbols of Iranians’ steadfastness in their struggle for freedom, and said that her memory is part of Iranians’ historical memory.

The ceremony was held on Friday, 10 Mehr, hosted by Naserin Shakarami, Nika Shakarami’s mother, in Frankfurt, Germany.

Prince Reza Pahlavi said: “Nika Shakarami, beautiful, passionate, and fearless, came to the streets for her right; she stood proudly, set the symbol of oppression and forced hijab on fire, and shouted for freedom.”

He added that Nika’s image of courage “has forever turned into one of the symbols of our nation’s resolve in the struggle for freedom and reclaiming Iran,” and described her as one of the generation’s young people who want freedom and to determine their own fate.

Prince Reza Pahlavi also thanked Naserin Shakarami and said that despite pressure and threats, she did not remain silent and did not allow the Islamic Republic’s narrative about how her daughter was killed to be imposed on public opinion.

He added: “Nika is part of our historical memory; a memory that keeps us steadfast in our search for truth and justice.”

Nika Shakarami was among the martyrs of the uprising “Woman, Life, Freedom.”
