Maryam Rahmati, an Iran International journalist at the United Nations headquarters in New York, won the 2026 bronze award of the United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA).

The award was given to Rahmati in the “Ricardo Ortega Memorial Award” category; a section dedicated to outstanding journalistic activities covering television and radio coverage of events related to the United Nations.

In addition to covering developments and events at the United Nations headquarters in New York, Rahmati has consistently reported on popular protests, human rights violations in Iran and Afghanistan, and in particular the restrictions and suppression of women’s rights in those two countries.

Speaking about receiving the award, she said she has always tried, in her reports, to reflect the voices of women and victims of human rights violations, and to cover the reactions of the international community and the United Nations to developments in Afghanistan and Iran.

According to the announced schedule, the UNCA journalism awards will be presented to the winners in a ceremony at the organization’s headquarters in New York in Azar 1405.

Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, will also attend the annual awards ceremony.
