🔶 Pakistan: Iran and the United States have moved closer to an agreement

The defense minister of Pakistan, in an interview with Bloomberg, said that Iran and the U.S. have moved closer to a “kind of understanding.” Khawaja Asif said: “The situation is again taking shape in favor of a peaceful agreement or a deal.”

He added: “The signs that we have seen in the past two or three days are that we are getting close to some kind of agreement.”

The remarks by Pakistan’s defense minister come as Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan’s interior minister, is traveling to Tehran. Islamabad has not provided an explanation regarding the objectives of his trip, but media outlets, quoting informed sources, claim the trip is connected to negotiations between Iran and the United States.

This comes while Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s foreign minister, said on Sunday that there is currently no direct negotiation taking place between Tehran and Washington.

He says the U.S. has violated the memorandum of understanding and must pay compensation, and that as long as the violations by the United States of the terms of the signed understanding are not resolved, it will not be possible to resume negotiations.
