🔶 Pakistan Army Commander in Tehran; “Talks with Trump Before the Trip”

Iranian media reported on Monday, September 2 (August 24), on the arrival of Asim Munir, commander of the Pakistan Army, in Tehran.

In a report, Reuters wrote, citing three Pakistani sources, that Munir had spoken by phone with Donald Trump a few days before his planned trip to Tehran, and that the U.S. president asked him to use Pakistan’s influence to bring Iran back to the negotiating table.

Pakistan is the main mediator in talks that led to the ceasefire of the 39-day war and the achievement of an understanding between Iran and the United States.

In the continuation of Reuters’ report, citing a Pakistani official, it said that Asim Munir is expected to meet in Tehran with “people close to Mojtaba Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic.”
